Quality Assurance
Aquatic Research Organisms, Inc. maintains an on-going program of quality assurance to provide our customers with the highest quality organisms available. These programs include health monitoring and performance evaluation of organisms through the use of standard reference toxicants.
Health Monitoring
Aquatic Research Organisms, Inc. conducts health monitoring on most of its in-house fish breeding colonies. Populations are inspected annually by a certified independent laboratory. Specific pathogens are evaluated and compared to the expected occurrence within each species. Health monitoring reports are available on request.
Reference Toxicant Testing
Reference toxicant testing is performed monthly on selected species. Specific life stages are exposed to a known toxicant (e.g., sodium dodecyl sulfate.) The exposure is conducted over a pre-established series of concentrations which will yield mortality results sufficient to calculate an LC50. Reference toxicant data is charted and used to evaluate the overall health of the organisms over time.
